Detailed Itinerary

Morning/Early: The Journey & Safari Kick-off

To maximize wildlife sightings, we recommend an early morning departure from your coastal or hill-country resort. Arriving at the park gates, you will transfer from your premium A/C vehicle into a rugged, customized 4×4 safari jeep. As the sun rises over the scrub jungle, your expert tracker will begin the search for the apex predators and massive herds of wild elephants starting their day.

Midday: Coastal Views & Jungle Rest

By midday, the park heats up and the animals retreat to the shade. We will take a strategic break near the stunning Patanangala beach inside the park, where the jungle meets the Indian Ocean. Stretch your legs, enjoy the spectacular ocean views, and have a packed lunch or snacks before the afternoon activity begins.

Afternoon: Deep Jungle Tracking & Birdlife

As the temperature begins to drop, the wilderness comes alive again. The afternoon is dedicated to deep jungle tracking and Yala exotic wildlife and bird watching. Keep your cameras ready for sightings of sloth bears, wild water buffalo, crocodiles, and vibrant flocks of painted storks and peacocks before we exit the park at sunset for your comfortable drive back.

  • Dust Protection: The Yala trails are notoriously dusty. Bring sunglasses and a light scarf or bandana to cover your face when driving behind other jeeps.
  • Photography Gear: To capture the best wildlife shots without disturbing the animals, a camera with a good telephoto/zoom lens (at least 200mm to 400mm) is highly recommended.
